Mess and health hazards in Danesbury area “unacceptable” says Welwyn Hatfield MP Grant Shapps.
Grant visited the area with local Councillor and Council Conservative leader Tony Kingsbury to see issues that had been raised to him by constituents.
It was found that the area was ill-managed and hazardous with rubbish built up and vegetation overgrowth and destruction. Although Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council implemented a tree protection order in 2022, this has still led to unapproved development and ecological harm coming to the area.
Grant commented on what he saw:
“The inaction by the Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council over this area is unacceptable and urgently needs addressing. I thank Councillor Kingsbury and residents for bringing this to my attention.”
Grant will write to the council to ask that the mess be cleared up and to stress the hazards that have become prominent, as well as to demand an extension on the tree protection order for an indefinite period.
