Grant Shapps meets with representative from Cash Access UK to discuss in person banking opportunities in Hatfield.
Cash Access UK is a not-for-profit company that supplies local communities across the UK with vital banking services. It is owned and funded by nine major high-street banks. As of March 2024, the company had 40 banking hubs set up, with many more on the way. Cash access UK are in the process of creating a hub in Hatfield.
After discovering residents' concern about a lack of local banking facilities, Grant Shapps met with Mellissa Whittaker, a representative from Cash Access UK, to learn about their plans to offer services in Hatfield and how he can further the creation of a local hub. Grant is keen to help with this development after various residents expressed their concern about Halifax closing, the last bank branch in Hatfield. He knows that the use of cash and access to key services is of great importance to many in the area.
Grant and Mellissa discussed the introduction of a temporary banking hub, whilst they were searching for a more permanent site. Ms. Whittaker described the plans that Cash Access UK have for their hub in Hatfield, while Grant stressed the need to get this up and running as soon as possible.
