Grant Shapps met with the newly elected Conservative Police & Crime Commissioner for Hertfordshire, Jonathan Ash-Edwards, to discuss antisocial behaviour and criminality in Hatfield town centre. This came after residents and local businesses expressed concern about drug use and drinking after hours.
Both Grant and Jonathan know how crucial it is that people feel safe coming into town at any time. In response to Grant inquiring what was to be done about this, Mr. Ash-Edwards replied that he has been working with the police to get ’more high visibility patrols in the hotspots of anti-social behaviour.’
Grant agreed that seeing more police in uniform would be highly effective as it makes people feel far safer and more secure. He hopes that this will have a positive impact on the local economy and will enstill confidence in businesses and everyone who uses the town centre.
